World Day of Prayer for Vocations - Sunday, April 22nd, 2018

"The joy of the Gospel, which makes us open to encountering God and our brothers and sisters, does not abide our slowness and our sloth.  It will not fill our hearts if we keep standing by the window with the excuse of waiting for the right time, without accepting this very day the risk of making a decision.  Vocation is today!  The Christian mission is now!  . . .  We should not wait to be perfect in order to respond with our generous “yes”, nor be fearful of our limitations and sins, but instead open our hearts to the voice of the Lord.  To listen to that voice, to discern our personal mission in the Church and the world, and at last to live it in the today that God gives us. World Day for Consecrated Life - Feb. 2, 2018

In 1997, Pope Saint John Paul II instituted a day of prayer for women and men in consecrated life. This celebration is attached to the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on February 2nd. This Feast is also known as Candlemas Day; the day on which candles are blessed symbolizing Christ who is the light of the world. So too, those in consecrated life are called to reflect the light of Jesus Christ to all peoples. The celebration of World Day for Consecrated Life is transferred to the following Sunday in order to highlight the gift of consecrated persons for the whole Church. Please pray for all those who have made commitments in the consecrated life, and be sure to thank them on their special day. May they continue to be inspired by Jesus Christ and respond generously to God's gift of their vocation.

Annual Evening of Prayer and Renewal for Spiritual Mothers

SEPTEMBER 6, 2017

In 2007, the Congregation for the Clergy invited women to consider making a commitment of prayer and sacrifice for the sanctification of priests.  In our diocese many women have made a yearly commitment to pray for a particular priest, seminarian or discerner through our Spiritual Motherhood program. This includes a commitment to prayer and offerings for the priests of our diocese, who greatly need our prayers and spiritual support.

For more information on Spiritual Motherhood, please read Eucharistic Adoration for the Sanctification of Priests and Spiritual Maternity published by the Congregation for the Clergy.  The book Praying for Priests by Kathleen Beckman and published by Sophia Press is also a wonderful resource.

If you would be interested in learning more about this commitment please consider joining us for:
